About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated Lab Assistant (f/m/d) to join one of our portfolio companies. This role is part of the R&D department within the Engineering team, where a key responsibility is supporting the research lab.

In your day to day work you will be involved in organizing, restocking, and maintaining the lab, documenting and enforcing best practices, and training and certifying new team members in lab procedures and basic tool usage. Your support will help uphold the high standards of our research activities and advance the projects seamlessly.

In this role, you’ll:

  • In the first 3 months: Develop a comprehensive understanding of laboratory and equipment procedures
  • In months 3-6: Independently conduct experiments, develop recipes, and perform analysis and material characterization
  • In months 6-12: Perform statistical evaluations of experimental results
  • After 6 months: Prepare for and follow up on tool installations, train new employees in safety protocols and lab procedures and manage supply stock to ensure smooth lab operations

Your Profile

  • Previous lab experience in a related field, with a preference for work within the semiconductor industry
  •  Expertise in material synthesis (e.g., CVD, PVD, MOCVD)
  • Proficiency in material characterization (e.g., AFM, XRD, Raman Spectroscopy, Optical Microscopy)
  • Excellent skills in writing reports and conducting characterization analysis
  • Holds a B.Sc. degree with one year of lab experience or an M.Sc. in physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related field
  • Excellent proficiency in English, with strong verbal and written communication abilities

Please note that we are looking for support in the Aachen office of our portfolio company. Eligibility to work within the EU is required as well.
