Berlin, 14.01.2021. Europe’s leading digital freight forwarder sennder raises 160m USD in its Series D funding round led by new and existing investors, among them Project A, Lakestar, HV Capital, Accel and Scania. sennder surpasses the 1bn unicorn valuation and ranks now among the most valuable European technology start-ups.

sennder has raised more than 260m USD to date. The company exhibited strong growth in 2020, having merged with Everoad and having acquired Uber Freight Europe. sennder will use the additional funding to expand into more European markets as well as to further develop and enhance its technology solutions.

Project A is one of sennder’s early investors and supported the company with its operational teams in various areas such as Backend and Frontend Software Development, Product Management and Talent Acquisition.

Ben Fischer, General Partner at Project A, says “The special thing about sennder is not the idea of setting up a digital freight forwarding service, but the strong focus on execution and the swift implementation of highly innovative technology solutions that address the needs of a rather traditional industry. sennder is driven by an incredibly strong team, which has pushed the company to become the market leader in efficiently matching carriers and shippers for more sustainable and economical freight forwarding."

sennder’s technology connects commercial shippers with small trucking companies while optimizing routes, reducing empty load kilometers and downtimes. The Project A portfolio company manages over one million truck loads a year across Europe with a team of 800 people.
