This year, Project A offered its summer interns a special treat: The Founder’s Academy 2012. The company’s first Founder’s Academy was hosted on Project A’s campus in the center of Berlin and consisted a theoretical part including expert presentations and a practical part in which the participants were asked to solve a real-life case studies for one of the ventures.
On Friday, Uwe Horstmann, the first speaker of the academy, grabbed the audience’s attention with his presentation on product management. Christian Weiß was next and presented his view on organization theory and shared five of his personal key learning of his career. Afterwards, Dr. Florian Heinemann gave the participants an insight into the exciting world of performance and online marketing. His presentation was followed by Thies Sander who elaborated on the legal aspects concerning the foundation and the early phases of a company. Sebastian Rieschel closed the series of presentations with a lecture on business intelligence.
It was case study time on Saturday. Throughout the day the participants worked to solve the case studies in groups: ideas were collected, concepts elaborated and action plans defined. After handing in their final presentations for the next day, everyone enjoyed a great night out at “Department” club. On Sunday, after a much needed brunch, all groups presented their case study work in front of a panel consisting of managing directors and venture representatives. After an insightful weekend, participants and jury agreed that the Founder’s Academy has enriched the interns’ Project A experience. Thus, from now on, it should take place every summer. We are looking forward to the Founder’s Academy 2013!
